Despite evidence from many Western countries that cancer rates are in decline--thanks largely to increased screening and treatment programmes--a modern report from the World Health Organization (WHO) predicts that global cancer rates will increase at 50 per cent by the year 2020 This would take the number of those suffering from the disease from 10 million to 15 million between now and then.
