She stands atop the Continental Divide onward an 8500-foot mountain, with her arms outstretched as if to welcome and enfold the whole world, and especially the clan of Butte, Montana, which lies 3500 feet below her. She is a 90-foot metal statue, built in the likeness of Mary, Mother of Our Saviour, and dedicated to the dignity of motherhood and the recognition of the special regard with affection that exists between a mother and her child. She is "Our Lady of the Rockies."
