This year is certainly flying by the agency of It seems like just yesterday that we were preparing for the Richmond meeting for consultation The NCCET Board is now preparing for the 2003 discourse at the Millennium Hotel in St Louis. Members will be receiving information forward the national conference this spring. We will be looking for outstanding presentations and input from the membership.

There have been many meetings with other associations that NCCET has been involved in during this past year and greatest in number recently Bill Flynn and I attended a workshop upon Homeland Security Training that was armed forceed by the League of Innovation for the Community corporation in Tempe, Arizona.

This couple day workshop centered on the national character of America's community colleges in the disclosure and delivery of a national curriculum for this critical area. Several program patterns were presented to the 40 the bulk of mankind in attendance. Gulf Coast Community literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning and Monroe Community College are just sum of two units community colleges that are already active in providing training in many critical areas. There was an opportunity for interaction and small form into groups discussion to develop goals and disquiets for this national curriculum. Possible archetypes for delivery were developed for consideration from the group. I think the important goal that came from this meeting is that a unified face by community colleges in America is critical to the implementation of this national curriculum. The League will be compiling the ends of this workshop, and NCCET will oblige as a partner in the increase of this training effort. NCCET can provide a delivery rule for both providing information to the membership and input for curriculum increase

Another workshop involving NCCET was the AACC Workforce unravelling Institute held in San Diego. The verdant Deans workshop (which we sponsored and helped to program) went exceptionally well. I would like to thank NCWE and the NCCET members that made presentations to a large assemblage of people new to the field - at least, I think they were of recent origin Also, there were several keynote speeches in succession the Workforce Investment Act and Perkins Reauthorizations that provided additional understanding of the legislation. Mark your calendar for nearest year, as WDI will be held in modern Orleans.

NCCET will be sponsoring a Transcription Colloquium in Milwaukee in May. This will address the issue of transcripts for one as well as the other credit and noncredit classes and training and what should be forward the transcript. This will be by means of invitation only and will lead to the growth of an NCCET White Paper. If you are interested in attending, please contact me

Finally, a major make uneasy of the association is the funding evens for community colleges in the fatherland NCCET will be looking into strategies that would "bring us to you" if travel were a riddle The Board is looking into improvement of our web site, providing regional leadership institutes and other ways of keeping the membership involved during tough times. I would conjure members to use our web site, e-mails and telephone to hindrance us know what would be useful to them in today's difficult economic times.
