On behalf of the NCCET Board of Directors I would like to thank Council members and visitors for participating in a real successful 2003 conference in St Louis. The answer to this year's conference was overwhelmingly positive. Participants benefited from throughout sixty-five presentations including motivational sessions in succession leadership; professional development seminars onward sales and marketing; and breakout sessions upon a multitude of topics like as successful health professions programs, distance learning options for continuing education, and integration of credit and non-credit programs to name a not many A highlight of the parley was the presentation of six regional leadership and four exemplary program awards. The meeting for consultation also provided significant opportunity for members to review works and services offered by our corporate partners and dialogue with colleagues from the nation's community and technical corporations in a variety of networking issues One new conference attendee noteed that the first day alone was well worth the registration pay Many additional comments were received following the meeting for consultation from attendees who indicated that the tools and practices they took domestic circle were invaluable.

Your board of directors has been real busy implementing a number of initiatives included in the lately developed strategic plan. One fundamental note initiative was review of the NCCET by-laws to better address the changing field of continuing education and training. The by-laws were revised and approved from the board and membership at the business session in St Louis. By-laws changes include dividing states into eight regions instead of six; creating a modern board position of Vice-President of Technology and Communication; and a provision for appointing board members who are occupyed in organizations other than community and technical society s Another major board initiative was the integral redesign of the NCCET website. Beginning January 2004 you will papal court a new look and a excessively exciting website that includes links to many valuable resources for your professional stand in want ofs Special thanks go to Cindy Ciese, Distance Learning Functional Director, Larry Smotroff Northeast Regional Director, and Sandra Mellor, former Southwest Regional Director for their work onward the website redesign.

The Council has also been actively involved in addressing issues that have implications for for what reason colleges document student learning. In answer to several resolutions recently adopted on the American Association of Community society s (AACC), NCCET and the National Council in succession Workforce Education (NCWE) collaborated onward a very successful colloquium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in May 2003 that addressed the issue of transcripting bookish man learning. A set of recommendations was unfolded and is included in a not long ago published paper authored by Bill Flynn Managing Director of NCCET entitled "Why Not disclose it Like It Is? The case for Revitalizing the Traditional Academic Transcript." NCCET will continue to focus forward the recommendations with the goal of helping college edifice [i]or[/i] buildings better serve the needs of learners as well as employers

In closing, I would like to personally invite you to attend the 2004 NCCET talk in Portland, Oregon, October 16-19 and to consider sharing undivided or more of your best practices in a breakout session.
