It certainly is a challenging time for continuing education professionals. During these tough economic times, many of us have been faced with significantly reduc income from our business customers resulting in staff reductions and elimination of programs and services that were our "bread and butter" just a scarcely any years ago. At the same time community and technical literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learnings have experienced cuts in state and local funding resulting in added hurry for continuing education divisions to be completely self-supported. As we face these challenges, it is more important than till doomsday to create new opportunities for yourself and your college

The NCCET board continues to focus onward creation of opportunities through implementation of a strategic plan that focuses forward several key themes: building a stronger membership base from one side addition of institutional members; improving communication with the membership; providing leadership increase programs; and strengthening alliances with corporate partners to provide innovative produces and services for member colleges

The NCCET board of directors recognizes that a capable base of member colleges is essential to the succes of the council. While NCCET membership continues to be stable, adding just discovered member colleges provides breadth and stillness that benefits all members. Those of you who have attended our national conversation understand the value of networking with professionals from other communitys I encourage all of you to share the benefits you have derived from NCCET with other bodys in your state.

One of the first note of the scale improvements in communication made this past year was redesign of the NCCET website. from now you should have received a literal meaning with instructions for logging onward to the "members only" section of the website. be stable to use the website and take advantage of the many membership benefits it has to proffer In an effort to improve board communication with and service to members, the council also redefined regions and added couple new regional director positions. Check the website for newly defined regions.

The board has held many discussions about the importance of preparing subsequent time leaders for community and technical corporation continuing education. Being a leader is more challenging than eternally with blurring of the lines between credit and non-credit programs, greater accountability, funding chisels and increased competition. I am pleased to announce that NCCET is sponsoring its sec ond leadership institute july 22-24 The theme of this year's institute to be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin is "Advancing your Career in Tough Economic Times." Whether you are an aspiring leader in continuing education or interested in strengthening your leadership skills, this institute is for you. As a participant, you will have an opportunity to aassess your leadership cast and strengths; work in team activities with other continuing education professionals; and revert to work with a plethora of strange ideas. be sure to check the website for registration information. Don't forget to share this information with your colleagues.
