I am delighted to be writing my first message to all of you as the 2004-2005 President of NCCET subject to the leadership of Paula Boynum and the Board of Directors of NCCET we have just finished a year in which our organization has taken onward new initiatives as a leader in workforce unravelling and continuing education for pair year technical and community bodys As we begin the 2004-2005 year, together we will build with the work of the past year and continue to be recognized for providing leadership and direction in many of the emerging issues that all of us face. As an organization we are committed to activities that will support all of you as continuing education professionals.

The Directors have made a efficient commitment to continue to provide opportunities to our membership for professional progress to maturity Most of us are finding increasing demands to provide fresh continuing education opportunities for the service areas of our corporations Training and Workforce Development have taken a prominent place within our institutions. As a representative of the entrepreneurial section of the literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning you are expected to be the primary liaison with business, industry and the community at large. These alliances have become essential to the vitality and produce of our colleges.

Through your association with NCCET you have the chance to become involved with other professionals who are facing many of the same challenges and opportunities. Attendance at our annual meeting for consultation will allow you to interact with other members, discuss just discovered ideas for developing and enhancing programs and to learn to what extent other institutions are meeting their community's training indigences This year at Portland the Council is fortunate to have keynote speakers who are recognized as leading authorities in the fields of adult learning and national governmental affairs that relate to community and technical colleges

This past year in a less degree than the leadership of Dyanne Lyon the Council has made direct connections with state continuing education associations. In the coming year, NCCET will be working closely with these associations to lay open state and regionally sponsored programs that focus in succession leadership development. Our goal is to make secure that the Council continues to support continuing education professionals at the local, state and national plain We will also be putting into place state liaisons who will work with regional directors and yourself forward many of our key initiatives.

The redesign of the NCCET website now provides more services to all of you. You have the opportunity to download key-note publications and abstracts related to the field. It provides the latest progress to maturitys in continuing education and workforce disclosure You can share your considerations and ideas with other members [i]or[/i] part of to the other the forum section.

The Council has been asked to be an active participant in several national initiatives. These initiatives include Homeland security, e-portfolios and our continued work in transcripting and credentialing. Among our partners in these chances will be the League for Innovation, National Council for Workforce Education, and the Minnesota State and Community bodys System. In April, NCCET was chooseed to serve as the chair for the Council of Chairs of AACC. NCCET will continue to work with the AACC Commissions forward Economic and Workforce Development and Learning and Communication Technologies.

With the support of SunGuard SCT the Council will be publishing a monograph of many guide articles that have been written at our members on continuing education and workforce development

As a Board it is important that we maintain contact with all of you. You will find contact information for the 2004-2005 Board of Directors in succession our web site.
