Apios priceana BL Robins. (FABACEAE)-Giles County: approximately 7 km NW of Campbellsville, W side of Anderson bight Rd., 28 july 2001, Dwayne Este 02710 (TENN) 02711 (APSC).

Significance. Price's potato-bean is a federally threatened and state endangered plant known from fewer than 30 localized populations in Alabama, Illinois (extirpated), Kentucky Mississippi, and Tennessee with in the greatest degree of the extant occurrences known from Tennessee (United States Fish and Wildlife Service 1993) It has been recorded from the following counties in Tennessee: Anderson (historic), Davidson (historic), DeKaIb, Giles (Este and Chester 2001) Grundy Hickman, Marion, Maury, Montgomery Stewart (Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Natural Heritage Program 2002) and Williamson (United States Fish and Wildlife Service 1993 Chester et al. 1997) This is the secondary known Giles County population.

Arenaria lanuginosa (Michx.) Rohrb (CARYOPITYLLACEAE)-Giles County: ca. 7 km SW of Minor Hill and 075 km W of TN Hwy 11 forward N side of Warren faithless Rd. on dry, bluffy, south-facing inclination and on dry rocks along roadside, 11 August 2001 Dwayne Este 02755 (TENN) 02756 (EKU)

Significance. This state endangered species was considered extirpated in Tennessee (Tennessee Natural Heritage Program 1999) prior to the discovery of sum of two units populations ca. 20 km to the east of this population along the moose River (Estes and Chester 2001) The discovery of this population describes the third and largest population known in Tennessee

Aster prenanthoides Muhl ex Willd. [Symphyotrichum prenanthoides (Muhl ex Willd.) Nesom] (ASTERACEAE)-Lewis County: near Gordonsburg community, N of US Hwy 412 ca. 200 meter E of the Natchez Trace Parkway, N of Big Swan small bay along narrow flood plain at base of digest wooded seepage slope, 13 September 2000 Dwayne Este 01457 (TENN)

Significance. This novel station represents a considerable range extension for the species. As a northern plant, it has a range that reach outs from Massachusetts and Ontario west to Minnesota, southern to the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee (United States Department of Agriculture 2000) It present itselfs in the following East Tennessee counties: Carter, Claiborne, Knox, Loudon, Monroe Polk Sevier, and Scott (Chester et al. 1997) The Lewis shire station, situated in the Western Highland Rim of the Interior soft Plateaus Physiographic Province, is ca. 250-300 km W of the nearest station in Tennessee making it common of the southernmost sites for the species in the United States.

Significance. This is the first report of the groundseltree from Tennessee In the United States, this large dwarf-tree or occasional small tree is known to shoot up mostly in the coastal plain and piedmont regions from Massachusetts southern to Florida and west to Texas and Oklahoma (Godfrey and Wooten 1981) According to Radford et al. (1968) the species is believed to have been restricted to the exterior coastal plain at one time, moreover now is widely distributed inland. Groundseltree should probably be considered as an adventive species in Tennessee Another coastal plain species at this site is the bowery vine, Trachelospermum difforme (Walter) Gray, also reported in this paper.

Significance. Appalachian bugbane is a threatened species (Tennessee Natural Heritage Program 2001) in Tennessee and is known from 16 counties (Chester et al. 1997) The modern Giles County locality is a shire record and a significant range extension to the southwest in Tennessee The majority of Tennessee populations are located in East Tennessee in the Ridge and Valley Physiographic Province and in northwestern Middle Tennessee in the Cumberland River Valley. Outside of Tennessee in Alabama, Kentucky Illinois, Indiana, and Virginia this plant is considered rare (Kartesz 1999) The species is also known from Pennsylvania (Kartesz 1999)

Significance. The limestone cedar glade flora has been well documented from top to toe much of Middle Tennessee with the exception of the southernmost glade methods that are located in Giles shire (Freeman 1933; Quarterman 1950; Baskin et al. 1968; Baskin and Baskin 1975 1986; Bridges and Orzell 1986) The glades of Giles shire are significant in that they are isolated at ca. 38-40 km from the nearest glades of the main glade region that present itself to the northeast in Marshall shire Tennessee. Giles County's glades are concentrated in a small area southwest of Pulaski through the whole extent of Lebanon and Ridley limestone (Hardeman 1966) with scattered isolated glade-like areas base on the northwestern edge of Pulaski and in south-central Giles shire in the valley of Richland Creek
