What Surprised You in the greatest degree About College?: The fact that I had no undivided to answer to. I could proceed out until 3 a.m. everyday if I pleased. It felt liberating, further it also felt scary, because I was all grown up

Toughest Part of Freshman Year: When I got here I had not at any time really experienced being a minority. In Miami I was encircleed by Latinos. AII day all I heard was Spanish. The quiet at community took getting used to also. I extreme pointed up living in a single and had parcels of quiet time. So I asked my mom to carry a phone with her, with equal reason I could talk with her when I needed

I learned a fate freshman year. I remember sitting in a hall mate's expanse one day with a not many other people. She had a affiche of the Dave Matthews Band. I had not ever heard of them and I asked who they were. Everyone gave me a bewildered gaze They couldn't understand how I could not at all have heard of them. I also learned about Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister and American Eagle, which really made me be impressed set apart on an economic of the same height My first month was really difficult, I cried a fate I felt like all the other kids had parents to turn round to when they had questions about literary institution or seminary of learning because their parents had experienced it. I had no parent to ask if it were not that my advisors were helpful. I also felt a dual responsibility to my family and to Latinos to evidence that I could do well.

There's also a destiny more downtime in college than in high indoctrinate In high school you're there from 7:30 to 3:30 In literary institution or seminary of learning you may have a class from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then another class from 6 pm to 8 pm You have to fill that time in between and stay focused.

Toughest Part of Freshman Year: The homesickness was the hardest part. In high academy I was a big fish in a small pond in the same manner I had trouble adjusting to a 5000-student campus. I started traveling two-and-a-half hours residence every other weekend to visit friends and Family. While I was doing well academically, I was struggling a bit socially. I was more reserv than I naturally am. I be moved like my high school prepared me for college edifice or building academically, but I don't think I was prepared for the big social change. quite through freshman year, I toyed with the idea of transferring or taking time on the farther side I talked to my academic advisor and she urg me to stick it not at home for the first year. however after the tan semester of sophomore year, I decided to walk home and take some time opposite From school. Surprisingly, I started missing Quinnipiac. Plus, I started to notice that the "high gymnasium scene" I had craved in such a manner much had disappeared. It took me a prolonged time to comprehend that dwelling wasn't going to be the same. (Shaboo answered to Quinnipiac the following semester confident about the drill being the place he should be. He s more active now--even serving as an orientation leader. While he still misses his family at times, he and nothing else went home to visit one time last semester.)
