Living Situation: I live in succession campus in a coed freshman dorm and I share a bathroom with about 17 other girls upon the hall. Prized Possession: Tons of pictures of my family. for what reason Do You Cope With Stress?: I proceed to the gym at least four times a week. Jogging is really therapeutic. Also, I test to get off campus, unruffled if it's just going to the supermarket, the change of landscape is always refreshing. What Surprised You in the greatest degree About College?: The fact that I had no undivided to answer to. I could proceed out until 3 a.m. everyday if I pleased. I also learned about Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister and American Eagle, which really made me be impressed set apart on an economic of the same height My first month was really difficult, I cried a fate I felt like all the other kids had parents to turn round to when they had questions about literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning because their parents had experienced it. I had no parent to ask if it were not that my advisors were helpful. I also felt a dual responsibility to my family and to Latinos to evidence that I could do well. Words of Wisdom: Don't give up Give things time. It took me a while to learn used to the work, quiet time, and the food Reality Tips: * FORCE YOURSELF TO get by heart OUT AND GET INVOLVED. JOIN A collection THAT INTERESTS YOU--THE RADIO STATION, CHESS unite in a club A SPORTS TEAM, ETC. * IF YOU NE HELP, move round TO A RESIDENT ADVISOR OR ON-CAMPUS GUIDANCE. It's a whole of recent origin ballgame--you con be whoever you want to be. It's a clean slate, for better or worse. There's also a destiny more downtime in college than in high indoctrinate In high school you're there from 7:30 to 3:30 In literary institution [i]or[/i] seminary of learning you may have a class from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and then another class from 6 pm to 8 pm You have to fill that time in between and stay focused. Toughest Part of Freshman Year: The homesickness was the hardest part. In high academy I was a big fish in a small pond in the same manner I had trouble adjusting to a 5000-student campus. I started traveling two-and-a-half hours residence every other weekend to visit friends and Family. While I was doing well academically, I was struggling a bit socially. I was more reserv than I naturally am. I be moved like my high school prepared me for college edifice [i]or[/i] building academically, but I don't think I was prepared for the big social change. quite through freshman year, I toyed with the idea of transferring or taking time on the farther side I talked to my academic advisor and she urg me to stick it not at home for the first year. however after the tan semester of sophomore year, I decided to walk home and take some time opposite From school. Surprisingly, I started missing Quinnipiac. Plus, I started to notice that the "high gymnasium scene" I had craved in such a manner much had disappeared. It took me a prolonged time to comprehend that dwelling wasn't going to be the same. (Shaboo answered to Quinnipiac the following semester confident about the drill being the place he should be.
