Our close examiner journalist, Nicholas Abreu, talks with Tim Frick about designing Web pages.

What do you do?

A I am the proprietor of Mighty-bytes. It is a multimedia design firm, a company that helps clients create Web pages, videos, films, and audio material. As the proprietor I do everything. Depending upon the situation, I sometimes take the part of production manager, creative director, accountant, design director, or correspondent.

What is the workload like?

A My workload hangs on what projects I have going forward At times, I can journey from nine to five and have just a normal workday. nevertheless other days, when I ne to proper a deadline, I may work until 3 a.m.

What do you like greatest in quantity about your job?

A Definitely the variety. I be pleased with the challenge of each puzzle that needs a solution. I not have to do the exact same work brace days in a row. And with the stand in want ofs of clients changing, I have fruition of exercising my creativity to make an excellent outcome. Plus, there is a certain excitement that follows from manipulating technology to portray ideas that were earlier considered impossible.

What do you like least about your job?

A Although I thoroughly have fruition of what I do, I dislike, the tedious business completion of the company. Along with being creative director, I also have to play the part of accountant. I have to take care of the taxes and worry about the payroll.

where did you fare to college, and what did you consideration there?

A I went to Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan, where I received a bachelor's order m writing and a certificate of film studies. Then I went to Columbia community in Chicago for graduate sect where I completed the course work for film and video production.

to what degree did you become interested in working with multimedia?

A I was basically forced into using hi-tech equipment in film exercise and that way I became familiar with it. All the equipment expense a lot of money, with equal reason I found another way to expres certain universals I decided to see what the computer had to show and I saw that it was a tangible and cost-efficient way of illustrating specific topics. with equal reason I taught myself the details and started to work with Ameritech, a major phone company.

Was there anything in high train that helped you?

A I was surprised that I would appreciate what I learned in my geometry and physics classes. When putting together 3-D games, those classes were especially useful. Other than that, my English, art, and film classes helped me cultivate my creativity.

Was there anyone who motivated or encouraged you?

A A graphic designer who is a friend of mine sold me my first computer and exhibited my eyes to the portents of computer design.

What advice do you have for high seminary students who are interested in this profession?

A Regarding computer learn often as you can, as fast as you can, because technology is constantly changing. Also, stay focused and remain practical. It's easy to realize caught up in the more drollery areas of the job, moreover then the business aspect is weakened. And although you may want to, nobody can do it all. Accept this, and do what you do best!
