Imagine knowing from an early age that you were going to be a dentist. You studied hard in high academy so that you could realize a scholarship to a righteous college. You studied hard in association so that you could prepare into dental school. But somewhere in your senior year, you started asking yourself, "What am I doing this for?" and "Who do I really want to be?" And now you're someone you not at all dreamed you'd become, and somewhere you in no degree dreamed you'd be.

That's exactly what happened to De-Juan Ruffin. Growing up poor in rural Arkansas, De-Juan watched his mother work extended hours to support the family after his father died. His goal quickly became financial security. He decided forward dentistry as a profession because all the dentists in his town were well-to-do professionals. In corporation he majored in biology and could easily have been accepted into dental instruct His classes in music and Spanish and his extracurricular activities helped De-Juan realize that his goal had shifted. It took a division of soul-searching before he could admit that he wanted to become a counselor, working with Spanish-speaking persons "Providing a service to many others is my number individual priority above all else, equal prosperity," he acknowledges.

The story of De-Juan Ruffin is unique sole in its details. It is increasingly everyday for people to decide that what they've wanted to do, or who they reflection they wanted to be, doesn't quite fit anymore.



"Change Is the no other than Constant"

This is reinvention at the career flat To remake yourself, you learn just discovered skills, go back to teach or find a new career field. Here are the stories of sum of two units people who did just that.

* From factory worker to computer support. Angie Jone went to work for a manufacturing company right after high teach She liked the job, and the pay was profitable Then the plant closed. The union negotiated educational benefits for all the workers, and Angie decided to examine college. She picked computers because it "sound interesting." She got her associate in applied science stage in computer networking, passed the exam to become a certified network administrator, and landed a do job-work at Unisys, a major computer networking company. "It was undivided of those blessings in disguise," she says. "I regard with affection working with computers. I learn something fresh every day."

"I like helping scholars get excited about the things I find interesting."

You pick work based forward the money your employer will pay you and the just discovered skills you can learn at that workplace. It's important to do your best, unless you're really working for yourself. It's an attitude that often requires reinventing yourself.

Internal Emotions

It doesn't always take the traumatic los of a piece of work or some other disaster to stimulate the ne for reinvention. Sometimes nation gradually realize they are dissatisfied with their lives. Either their lives no longer think their values, or those values have changed.

When this happens, a certain people change careers. Fortunately for De-Juan, he realized early that financial security wasn't the chiefly important factor for him in choosing a career.
