Evan James, 21 avows Zebra83 Threads, an urban clothing line that he started sum of two units years ago. James spoke with Career World about his company, which is based in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

Career World: What's Zebra83 all about?

Evan James: I'm interested in hip-hop music and urban cultivation and I really didn't think there was a clothing company that exhibited hip-hop and urban culture. What [hip-hop is] doing is combining black kids and white kids together in consequence of music. I felt there wasn't really any clothing line disclosed there that really represented what was taking place, this unifying of different races. To me the zebra--the animal that's black and white--was a well adapted representation. I feel like Zebra83 is different [from] any other clothing line because it shows the black and the white together, the different races unifying in consequence of music. [The 83 stands for the year he was born.]

CW: sum of two units years ago, you started on selling 100 shirts. How did that work?

EJ: I sold them for $25 a shirt. That's elegant without grandeur expensive for a shirt from a company that nobody has a thread what it is, but [I told] each bodily substance I sold a shirt to [that] it was an investment in my company. Not in the same manner much that they own a piece of my company, still if Zebra83 does well, maybe brace or three years from now, they'd memorize free clothes or they'd acquire benefits from being those race that purchased those first 100 shirts. I wrote down [the name of] each single person [who] bought those 100 shirts.

CW: What is your part at Zebra83?

EJ: I design all the clothing. I have 13 garments right now. My bestseller is my blinded sweatshirt. ... I'm constantly looking at my competitors [to see] where the trendings are going. Every day I'm looking at person else's Web site to diocese [what they're doing]. Sean John Phat Farm, Echo--all those are urban-style clothing lines that are highly similar to [mine].

CW: What's the hereafter of Zebra83 Threads?

EJ: The business is going well right now. I plan forward being in about 30 different stores [soon]--the majority in California. A promotional CD that I'm putting disclosed right now features nine different unsigned hip-hop artists. That'll be distributed by the and of stores, [free] with purchases of $50 or more. forward all my clothes there's a signature, Evan James, and I am trying to establish an Evan James signature right now in the same manner that 10 years from now, when my demographic ages gone out of the flashy logo, hip-hop, urban sign of clothes, they can transfer to the more signature, make even sharp-looking Evan James logo, however recognize it through Zebra83. It's definitely long-term
