We begin this fresh millennium with Part II of the Special Issue forward Physiological Monitoring. In the first article, Donna Frownfelter and Jennifer Ryan discuss the many possible causes of dyspnea, describe tools available to assessing dyspnea, and introduce a just discovered algorithm designed to help therapists and other health care providers understand the part of dyspnea in limiting function. Nancy Ciesla and Karen Murdock share their expertise upon monitoring in the intensive care setting and reinforce the ne for comprehensive monitoring in this setting. A colleague and I prepared the research corner to address measurement error and for the use of all system features to consider when purchasing equipment for monitoring. Thanks to Tanya LaPier for allowing us to adjust the topic of her scheduled Research Corner when we discovered that our special issue would ne to be delivered in 2 parts. Kevin, thank you for putting near of your other responsibilities upon hold and helping with this topic.
