At the June meeting of the Executive Board in Indianapolis, it was solicitationed the VP develop goals for the monitoring of 2 clew issues facing the Section:

1 monitoring of the Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) registry and impact forward our Section/specialty area, and

2 monitoring of CPT coding with the possibility of developing a of recent origin CPT code.

In addition, it was entreated that the VP represent the Section in succession the APTA Task Force onward Fitness, Wellness, and Prevention in Alexandria, VA from September 29 - 30 The sense of this Task Force was to:

1 expand recommendations regarding the academic composings of a credentialing/certification program for fitness, wellness, and prevention with a report to the March 2000 Board of Directors Meeting, and

2 examine fitness, wellness, and prevention certification for close examiners in the physical therapist professional academic programs including the feasibility and desirability of of the like kind a certificate program.

Task Force Meeting

The Task Force met and make knowned a working draft document for propos inclusion in the Normative original as well as developed assumptions based immediately after entry level curriculums as they exist. The Board of Directors met in November and reviewed the proposal from the Task Force, and the information propos for the Normative archetype was included in Version 2000 that is commonly available. Information included in the pattern was shared with the Practice Department that is managing the continuing education course in succession Fitness, Wellness, and Prevention consultation in such a manner that this course and the Normative type were congruent. A supplement in succession Fitness, Health Promotion, Prevention and Wellness will be placed onward the APTA website under PT Education that will include the detailed information that the Task Force compiled.

Monitoring CEP

The following are the propos goals for monitoring of CEP that will be discussed at the Executive Board Meeting in February 2001:

Goals for monitoring of Clinical Exercise Physiologist:

1 Report numbers of individuals who have favorably completed the registry exam forward a yearly basis.

2 scan membership yearly regarding impact locally/ regionally. Implementation of this view needs to be funded by means of the Section. Written survey of explanation states or regions should be implemented. take a view of will include information on:

a. PT salary v CEP salary,

b work at jobs openings/competition for jobs, and

c clinical practice: specifically limitations, patient referrals, etc

Points of discussion:

What are [i]clavis[/i] states/regions and whom will be contacted?

Recommend task force to bring to maturity this survey.

3. Monitor impact nationally by:

a. establishing FORMAL liaison from Section to:

i. AACVPR

ii. ACSM

b designated liaisons should be identified who attend these meetings or are upon board of directors of these organizations and could report regularly

c establish a array of less front than depth for reporting any new information in Journal

4 Increase PT visibility in the area of clinical exercise physiology for consumer and other professionals:

a. unravel a PR campaign with national APTA PR committee,

b write articles for journal, and

c placement of PT in succession key Boards in area of exercise and disability

i. ne to identify these Boards

5 Improve PT avenue level and advanced level curriculums in area of fitness, wellness, and prevention:

a. work with Normative archetype

b. provide consulting to educational programs for implementation of recently made known information in Normative Model 2000

c provide continuing education at CSM Annual and other regional meetings onward information in Normative Model 2000

CPT digest

Goals for CPT coding:

1 suitable with Helene Fearon to perform the operations indicated in step-by-step process for developing a CPT collection of laws that would be valued higher than popular vascular rehabilitation CPT code, and could be used in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation.

2 disclose code that is in the clinical medicine numbers in 97000 area.

3 cause to grow descriptor for the specific service.

4 Identify research articles to back up the service that are minimally "B" evidence and ground in peer reviewed or appropriate for publication literature.

5 evolve a rationale for this CPT digest that demonstrates its uniqueness and worthiness.

6 existing idea is to develop a digest for physiological monitoring.

7 Report to Section progres made from June.
