Committee Members: Linda Fankhauser, MPT; Mary Jane Myslinski, PT PhD; Pamela Martin, PT EdD; Kristen Nelson M PT A scrutinize asking Section members to prioritize generally received legislative issues in order to help the APTA guidance Affairs Office to focus upon issues most important to the APTA membership was published in the Section Journal and also columned on the Section Web page. There was a minimal answer rate, which may suggest that either the means of distribution of the take a view of was not effective or that small in number of our Section members have interest in becoming involved in legislative issues. I would like to intimate that we create a assemblage mailing list of all available Section members email addresses and distribute information and begs in the future through email. This may be a more effective order than including requests in publications and saves the splendors of direct mailings. I attended the annual APTA Federal restraint Affairs Meeting in April 2000 in Washington, DC which has the project of informing participants on popular legislative issues and of bringing physical therapy issues to the attention of Congres between the walls of direct lobbying efforts. This was a great learning experience and gave me the opportunity to engage most of the members of Congres of Utah. The National office carries most numerous of the expenses of this meeting, in the way that that there is no splendor to the Section. In Spring of 2000 the Legislative Committee repeated a view of all state chapter legislative contacts regarding legislative efforts to license exercise physiologists during 2000 legislative sessions. There was action in fewer states as compared to the 1999 legislature and none of the efforts were prosperous However, we hear anecdotal reports from a number of contacts, that many academic programs are in the proces of establishing specific clinical exercise physiology tracts, which will weaken our main argument (inadequate clinical education) in to come battles. Since a work at jobs description for this office could not be establish I generated a preliminary draft of similar a document. I would like to invite Board members to add items to this list as well as submit suggestions and notes Respectfully submitted, Edward Gappmaier, PT PhD Chair Copyright Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal Jun 2001 Provided according to ProQuest Information and Learning Company.
