Dear Section Members: I am pleased...

Dear Section Members:

I am pleased to be writing to you as your strange Section President. My transition into this part took place during the February CSM in San Antonio. I have to admit I was a bit awestruck when Steve Tepper handed me a zip disk cloyed of files as well as a 6-inch stack of papers during my orientation meeting!! for what reason could I possibly learn about everything I wanted to know and maintain the plain of leadership Steve had established?

Well, I should have known Steve would leave me and the Section, in virtuous shape!! His networking and communication efforts have paid on the farther side in terms of expanded Section involvement at the national even We have or will be participants in sum of two units APTA Board-appointed task forces related to fitness and physical activity. We have been approached at the PT Foundation to support a of recent origin initiative related to research networks. We have suited favorably to a request from the Orthopaedic Section for a financial contribution to a consensus parley on specialization in physical therapy. State Chapters have sought our support for RC pending in this year's House of Delegates. Our Section may be small in number, if it were not that we have much to exhibit in terms of our expertise and our commitment, a fact that continues to be recognized at our colleagues in the APTA!!!

We should all give Steve another globular of applause and sincere thanks for his efforts. I know that he will continue to share his talents with us on the same level while he focuses on his Chair responsibilities at Shenandoah. I've already warned him to reckon upon phone calls and emails from me as I learn the restrains of this role!! We also should thank the other officers and committee chairs who contribute their time and expertise to induce the Section forward as we face just discovered challenges.

Looking ahead, I do have a agenda items identified to address, the in the greatest degree imminent of which is the challenge of recruiting and retaining proffers for Section leadership and committee characters One of my goals will be to work with the Executive Committee to reinvigorate our efforts to expand member involvement. A call for nominations is already in place for the Editor of the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal and for a cardiovascular and pulmonary specialist representative upon the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Our Nominating Committee will also be issuing calls for nominations for nearest year's ballot of officers. Maybe you are the right human frame for one of these tasks...but to what degree do we find you?

I plan to start exploring ways to enhance member involvement at PT 2001 in Anaheim, in like manner don't be surprised if I walk up introduce myself, and ask to finish to know you a little better. It's an antiquated line, but we do ne you!
