Is the pendulum swinging back? Over the modern years we have experienced about challenges within health care and the profession of physical therapy. For the first time in newly come history, the supply of physical therapists transcended the demand and the unemployment rate climbed within our profession. In any parts of the country and any practice settings, physical therapists were being laid on the farther side and others reported a reduction in work hours. novel graduates were finding that they wanted to be flexible and relocate to find craft They were competing for positions and really polishing their resumes' to obtain their foot in the door; sometimes settling for a by them or part time position to gain experience. This past weekend, our senior close examiners returned to campus for their comprehensive exams, final evaluation sessions, and to participate in graduation ceremonies. When asked about their succes in the work at jobs hunt, 80% reported that they had already managed to fast a position. This is uniform more amazing when you consider that about half of this graduating class desired to stay within a 25-mile radius of our location. Several scholars reported receiving more than common offer. Positions for replete time physical therapists are showing up in the weekend classified advertisements. single in kind evening last week, our family time was interrupted by means of phone calls from two headhunters working to recruit physical therapists for positions elsewhere in the state. I used to be bothered by the agency of those calls, this time they felt good! These results left me wondering-is the pendulum swinging back? Are significant changes happening quite through the country or is this unique to our Midwest community?
