As the position of Vice President has been common of supporting the President and performing tasks askinged by the President, numerous activities have been occurring to report to the membership. This report helps to summarize those activities, particularly summarizing areas of Practice, guidance Affairs, and Reimbursement. However, the specific chairpersons of legislative issues and reimbursement will provide a more entire and formal report for the membership.

Since CSM 2001 applications for Journal Editor have been forwarded to the Vice President. At this date a review of the applications is being made by dint of the Executive Committee in conjunction with the Journal Editor.

Nominations are being prayered for the Linda Crane Award and prelection for 2003. The nominations ne to be move rounded in to the Vice President by the agency of November 2001, and the awardee will be announced after the 2002 prelection at CSM which will be given through the 2002 Linda Crane Awardee, native of scotland Irwin.

Ed Gappmeier will provide a report in succession Legislative Issues.

Robert Huhn has been working with the Departments of Practice and restraint Affairs and with Helene Fearon, a PT who is a member of the CPT coding committee, to perform the operations indicated in a comprehensive list of ICD-9 digests that should be included in a less degree than the CPT code for Therapeutic Exercise.

We were beg fored to support RC-31 by the Orthopaedic Section and the Montana Chapter regarding the practice of providing continuing education, however, a consensus of the Executive Board was to monitor this RC and descry the progress prior to the meeting of the HOD

Last year the Section propos an RC in succession the delivery of Therapeutic Exercise to ones with Impairments. This RC had specific actions which ne to be reviewed after 1 year of implementation. The VP will contact the APTA at the June meeting and review the progres and issue of this RC.

In working with the Orthopaedic Section's Practice Chair, it was discovered they had bring outed a compendium for PTs forward the practice and legal status of manipulation. In reviewing this document, it appears that there may be the ne for similar compendiums to be bring to maturityed by the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section in succession practice issues in cardiac rehabilitation and in pulmonary rehabilitation. The following are advantages for the disclosure of these compendiums:

1 Provision of a unified document of communication upon these practice areas for all those who petition for this, and for a unified answer to all.

2. Increasing our visibility of practice...providing information onward potential career advancement or career alternatives.

3 Income to the Section.

4 Improve our direction for the Section.

5 Possibly increase the numbers of PT interested in this area.

My recommendation, therefore, is to unravel 2 task forces to disclose these compendiums...via email for communication between the task forces, no fiscal estimate allotment necessary. The compendiums would ne to be duplicated at richness but this cost could be recoup with the sale of these compendiums.

Structure of the Task Forces: 2 task forces with a Chair of each task force, and the VP as a member of the couple but only for assistance of direction or editorial interests After the compendium is expanded it will be provided to the Executive Board for review. Deadline for formless draft of compendium would be February 2002

Sample format...similar to Orthopaedics:

The compendium should be kept to 25 pages (2 sided) and could be purchased for $25 for nonsection members, and $10 for section members.

The authors/editors of the compendium will be listed and be of use to as a publication for these individuals. The compendium should be scheduled for revision each 2 years.

This compendium would also assist to assist the section in identifying individuals who teach CP across the fatherland as well as identify the contented of PT assistant programs. It might also assist to identify the research that is being demeanored in this area across the abiding habitation by working with the Foundation, Research Section, and Education Section.

Another suggestion I have would be to lay open a working relationship with solution sponsors. This might be the piece of work of the PR Chair or Fundraising Chair.

They could:

* review past sponsors;

* review circulating advertisers;

* develop a plan to have sponsors support the section in additional way; and

* disclose a current list of sponsors/advertisers, and explanation section contacts.

Two other suggestions:

1 Should we turn the thoughts at the Acute Care Section and evolve a stronger working relationship in light of the merging of 2 smaller Sections????

Would working closer be of benefit to our Section????

2 Where are we with our strategic plan? Are we onward target? What do we still ne to accomplish? Do we ne a of recent origin one????
