In attendance: Officers: Dianne)ewell, Ellen Hillegass, Wendy pshaw Reed Humphrey, Steve Tepper (ex officio). Committee Chairs: Diane Madras, Dan Malone, Donna Frownfelter Martha Garlick, Joanne Watchie, ed Gappmeier. Section Members: Angela Abeyt (new specialist). REPORTS President's Report: Dianne Jewell Election Results: Peter Kovacek and Carolyn flush (Nominating Committee), Barney Poole (Vice Speaker of House), Jim Dunleavy, Pauline Flesch and Scott Ward (Board of Directors), Randy Roesch (Secretary). A modern Board Liaison for the Section will be determined after PT2001; Janet Bezner is a possibility. House of Delegates: RC of interest to the Section included 1-01,25-01,and 31-01 RCl-01: propers increase to $150.00 for graduate learners passed. RC25-01: Reimbursement related to clinical specialization was deferr to the Board of Directors for review. RC31-01: Teaching continuing education to nonphysical therapists passed as amended with rewording make acceptableed by Dianne. Component President's & Section President's Meetings: Discussion focused forward the need to re-evaluate constituting structure to improve resource sharing and availability, form redundancies in effort and communication, and improve responsiveness to environmental changes (ie, reimbursement, legislative, membership, etc) Health Policy & Administration Sections have propos a merger to their respective memberships. A referendum devoted will occur this summer. Consideration of these issues fits in with the Section's ne to strategically plan for the what is yet to be Action Item Reminders: Follow up onward the Foundation's request for a commitment of $10000/yr for 3 yr from our Section. Merit Award recipient for 2000 Strategic Plan: increase planned as part of fresh Business for this meeting. Vice President's Report: Ellen Hillegass Reimbursement: move with a jerk Huhn continues to work closely with Helene Fearon, Nancy Garland, and Jim Nugent regarding Medicare policies for physical therapy and cardiac rehabilitation. Awards & Tributes: Nominations for the 2003 Linda Crane Award are owing by November. The 2002 Linda Crane Award recipient is payment Irwin. CPTI Editor Search: There are 3 applicants. The qualifications review proces will take place in July The goal is to have a candidate excellented by September in order for Sandy Cassady to orient that individual to the position prior to her departure in December. Section Resources: Discussed recommendation for progressive growth of a compendium of information in succession Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and one forward Pulmonary Rehabilitation that might benefit the membership. Compendium will be discussed in conjunction with the strategic plan. Corporate Sponsorship: Discussed recommendation to exhibit stronger working relationship with companies that may be potential sponsors for the dance, Journal, and any other activities. Member at Large Report: Re Humphrey Clinical Exercise Physiologist Registry: what is yet to be direction of this movement is unclear. There appeared to be an early "spike" of family taking the registry exam; however, fewer are taking the exam and there are solitary 200 that are certified to date. It appears united of the problems is that greatest in number academic programs do not have the academic infrastructure to provide the exercise physiologist with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to take the exam. Education Report: Donna Frownfelter Preconference program - CSM 2002: To be cosponsored with the Geriatrics Section. Discussed suggestions for topics for the 1-day course in succession pharmacology presented by Chuck Ciccone. Re Humphrey glance ated contacting drug companies to sponsor the program and will assist Donna with pursuing this opportunity. Wendy J poh asked that the preconference and Section compendium of handouts be sent to her prior to the discourse to have it copied cheaper, and moveed making extra compendia for sale at the colloquy Treasurer's Report: Wendy J fudge 2002 Budget: Discussed the deficit existing for the 2002 batch and asked if we wanted to gaze at cost control, voting in the deficit, or enacting a propers increase. A question was raised regarding a previous befittings increase that apparently was approved and vot forward by the membership but not ever implemented due to the change in the do job-work climate at the time. Dianne beg fored to hold on voting in succession the budget until after discussion of a Strategic Plan at this meeting. Archives Storage: Discussed the possibility of discontinuing storage of archives in Boston in order to bring to expenses. The Board agreed to shut up a session at CSM to sort by the agency of materials, keep necessary files, and then have the retained records scanned onto a CD from a paid graduate student. The storage space could then be eliminated. Ellen Hillegass will email Board members and past Section presidents to find public if they wish to partake in the storage cleanout session. Participants identified at this Board meeting were Ellen Hillegass, Diane Madras, Martha Garlick, and Joanne Watchie. The clean revealed session will be held forward Wednesday afternoon in Boston. |
