As you are reading this, the first issue of the journal is subject to my belt and I'm already working forward the second issue. First of all, allow me tell you how honored I am to be the novel Editor of the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal. I have a big pair of shoe to fill in replacing Sandy Cassady, PhD PT as the modern Editor. The journal experienced tremendous growing and change under her editorship, and I faith to continue this trend with the help of the strange associate editors Susan Scherer, PT MA; Tanya Kinney LaPier, PT PhD CCS; Anne Swisher, PT M CCS; and W Darlene Reid, BMR(PT) PhD There are a scarcely any people I would like to thank for guiding me end this very steep learning bend of putting a journal together. First, a special thanks to Sandy for letting me lay out 2 days with her in Iowa as she patiently explained ALL the details regarding the mechanics of being an editor. She has sooth to say helped make the transition not present the appearance quite so overwhelming. I also would like to thank Sharon Klinski, the Managing Editor, as well as Marilyn Brodsky and Carole Teitelbaum at Advertising Assistance for their patience in guiding me end the mechanics of ad original layout, etc.

I expectancy that you enjoy this issue of the journal. This issue includes 2 research manuscripts-one by means of Dr. Jack Thomas and colleagues titled Perceptions of Exercise Among Participants in a Cardiac Rehabilitation Program: look fored Versus Achieved Outcomes and the next to the first is by Anne Swisher and colleagues titled The Ability of Physical Therapy scholars to Accurately Assess Their be in possession of Aerobic Fitness and Obesity flushs As a nice follow-up to the novel special issue on Evidence Based Medicine, the Research Corner from Tanya LaPier and Dana Howell exhibits how evidence-based practice can be applied clinically in the examination of functional deficits in patients following coronary artery bypass surgery

I would also strenuously encourage you to read the propos bylaws changes and the literal sense from the Section President, Dianne Jewell, which is printed in this issue. The Section membership will be voting upon these proposed changes at the Section Business Meeting at the APTA Annual talk and Exposition in June 2002

Finally, I would like to encourage the presenter at CSM to consider completing the research proces through submitting manuscripts of their research plots to the journal. There is no better way to share your findings with your companion section members than by publication in the Journal.
