The parts are now closed for 2001 and the Section has faced a number of financial challenges during this period. The vista for 2002 is already looking plenteous brighter. On the income side our fits revenue was $2969 more than drawed a reflection of our ability to attract members to the Section despite overall membership declines in the APTA. In addition, we have pending receiptss from the Acute Care Section ($358 from CSM '01) There is also miscellaneous income from CSM '01 from public relations activities that Mike LaMothe is pursuing. Committee chairs are to be recommended for their efforts to work within their respective packages Nevertheless, Section expenses exceeded projections for several reasons. First, the Section paid for travel in order for Ellen Hillegass to attend the APTA Task Force for Fitness, Wellness and Prevention. This activity was not included in the original packet but was approved because of its relevance to Section interests. We also governmental estimateed for a one time $3917 outlay to upgrade the computer for the Journal; unfortunately, advertising income was - $3700 les than delineate ed making it difficult to shoot the computer expense. The Orthopedic Section, who publishes our journal, has issued a $1500 credit (for an overcharge at the printer) that will be cogitateed in our January 2002 bill. Finally, an additional $1000 in scholarship stocks was distributed outside of assortment as carryover from undisbursed stores in FY2000. In summary, although the numbers mirror an overall loss for FY2001 we anticipate the final figure to be smaller than it is at the time of this report with the addition of remaining uncollect income We also recognize that certain costs were one-time events and do not indicate a pattern of require to be paid or undergone overruns. We have evaluated operating roll line items to further shape costs in FY2002 and will continue to track new revenue generating opportunities. I want to thank the Section for this great opportunity the last 3 years. It has been great to win to know so many of the surprising people. I know the Section will be in great hands with Ethel Frese given her years of experience.
