Greetings and salutations!!! As I write this verbal expression spring is making its way across the nation and everyone I know is anxious for warm weather and more time exhausted outdoors. It is the season of renewal and our increasing spirit levels reflect the anticipation of recent possibilities!

At the composing Presidents' meeting in February we were challenged to consider novel possibilities for the APTA and its member assemblages Specifically we discussed the health of the organization and our respective chapters and sections, attempting to answer the question "are we conducting business effectively and meeting the needinesss of our members?"

As you might await we concluded that, depending immediately after where you looked, the answer was the couple "yes" and "no." Future ingredient leadership meetings will focus in succession the development of strategies and tactics that enhance the Association's ability to support our professional evolution and suit to environmental pressures while serving its members from a position of fiscal vigor The success of these efforts hangs largely on our ability to maintain a collective exhibit mind to the new possibilities available to us.

Your Section Board has taken grades to streamline our administrative processe in order to increase responsiveness and cost-effectiveness. However, tweaking policies and conducts can be analogous to treating a patient's symptoms without addressing their cause. We must try to get out and consider new possibilities for our Section that support our fundamental extremitys but also take advantage of additional talents and economies of scale. I believe that many of these opportunities will be realized by means of meaningful collaboration with groups whose interests are compatible with our concede

Who are these groups? Perhaps they are vendors or organizations willing to sponsor our initiatives and activities. Perhaps they are other sections or chapters willing to share resources. Perhaps they are other associations with overlapping agendas. These arranges are not strangers - we already have partnered with many of them at common time or another. The larger question is whether stronger relationships with any single in kind or several of these entities would confident future success for the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section.

This is a hard question for many of us to consider. After all, our identity as a Section is at stake. with equal reason how do we keep our mind render free of access to the new possibilities? I believe that we take a suggestion from the Component Presidents' Meeting and start with make open dialogue. We have a listserv now-lets make use of it to channel our renewed energies toward consideration of our coming time and the opportunities before us!
