As the Vice President inspects practice, reimbursement, government affairs issues, and the Linda Crane Lectureship Award, I will provide an update upon all these areas.

Practice fits

One area of practice that is constantly an issue is the status of licensure of the exercise physiologist. This year there has been more of a voice from exercise physiologists involved in the American Society of Exercise Physiology (ASEP) than previous years. The ASEP can be researched onward the Internet at www.css.edu/ASEP. Their goal is for licensure of exercise physiologists. united of their members spoke to the AACVPR Board of Directors meeting in Chicago in April (when I was present) looking for support for their cause. The AACVPR Board of Directors remains neutral forward this issue and recommended the representative track this issue with the American body of Sports Medicine (ACSM), as they perceive it is not the mission of the organization to assist in the pursuit of licensure for exercise physiologists. There will be a presentation at the AACVPR annual meeting in September at handed by an individual from the AACVPR Board, who is also an exercise physiologist and active member of the ACSM regarding the different certifications that ACSM gives in comparison to "licensure" with a discussion forward AACVPR Program Certification.

The APTA is hosting the 12th Annual State command Affairs Forum to be held in Louisville, Kentucky September 21-23 This conversation attracts 100 legislative leaders for physical therapy from around the United States. I will be addressing the chapter presidents, state legislative chairs, and lobbyists and speaking onward the latest activities of Exercise Physiologists.

I would attract favor to all physical therapists monitor this situation in their confess states. State chapters can better monitor this situation, further it would be informative to the Section if individuals would report any activity. In addition, the APTA has (upon request) a Take Action Packet that can be used for information for your state representatives and senators should you ne information. Please contact APTA's restraint Affairs Department for this packet.

I also have been asked to take the part of the Section at the learner Conclave being held in Birmingham, AL this October. I apply the mind forward to networking with what is yet to be colleagues!

Re-bursement Issues

There is no of recent origin information to report regarding Cardiac Rehab reimbursement, further possibly news will arrive in September at the AACVPR Board Meeting and Annual conversation I encourage all to attend this meeting, which will be held in Charlotte, NC

It appears pulmonary rehabilitation reimbursement may actually be improving to be ascribed to LMRPs (local review medicare policies) across the nation. Please hold me informed if you know of any improvements or enigmas in this area.

Linda Crane Lectureship Award Congratulations make progress out to Susan Butler, who will not away the 2003 Linda Crane Lectureship in Tampa, Florida. I have received common nomination for the 2004 award, and have advertised this with the Pediatric and Education Sections in the chance of a favorable result we might receive an increased number of nominations. Deadline for nominating an individual is November 1 You may contact me for the nomination information, or read the criteria in the June issue of the Journal.

History Information and Documents

If anyone has any history information or documents stored in their office or residence I would appreciate your informing me and possibly sending them or bringing them to Tampa. The Section is trying to archive all history and important documents.
