Greetings! Another year is winding ...

Greetings! Another year is winding down which means 2 things: (1) the holidays are here and I'm not ready, and (2) the Combined Sections Meeting is just around the corner!!!! Thankfully we'll be in a town with superior sunshine and warm weather potential-Tampa, Florida!

For years now CSM has been the meeting of choice for our Section members. Our 2003 meeting should be no exception. We have often to offer for your professional development: A pre-conference workshop upon the use of technology in PT practice for patients with cardiovascular and pulmonary impairments.

A variety of program topics, including:

* cardiovascular and pulmonary implications of cancer treatment,

* caloric entrances and exercise training,

* ventilatory muscle training controversies,

* use of vital signs and lung heartys in PT practice,

* eastern and western philosophies of PT practice, and

* cardiovascular and pulmonary research updates.

The annual Linda Crane Lectureship to be quick in emergenciesed by this year's honoree, Susan Butler McNamara, PT CC

Our annual Section membership meeting and reception is another regular feature at CSM-scheduled this year upon Friday, February 14, from 5:30 to 9:00 pm Your Section Board will provide updates in succession Section initiatives, financial status, and elections. We'll also facilitate discussion and voting processe for propos bylaws changes. Of course, celebrations are an important agenda item as we recognize member accomplishments and be delighted with each other's company over light fare and beverages!

Last, if it be not that definitely not least, we have the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Dance for Physical Therapy Research in succession Thursday, February 13 from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am. This is your best opportunity to break abroad your party clothes and dancing spirit while making a meaningful contribution to our Section's Research stock and the Foundation for PT Research.

With all of these great offerings, to what extent can you afford to miss CSM???? You can't-so I'll anticipate forward to seeing you in Tampa!!!

Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section Research Grant

Call for Proposals

To stimulate well-defined research studies, the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section will provide a research grant award to a Section member to support a subject of attention relevant to cardiopulmonary practice. For the year 2003 the Section will be able to stock one proposal for up to $2000 To be eligible you must be a Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Section member, and the research must be directly related to cardiopulmonary physical therapy. Graduate scholar members may apply and use the funding to defray the richness associated with thesis or dissertation research. The funding may be used to assist with travel to existing research findings. Upon completion of the reflection a manuscript/report must be submitted for publication in Physical Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal. The award will not include overhead or indirect costlinesss

The research proposal should include a title page, specific aims, summary of relevant literature, and propos methodology including design, description of subdues instrumentation, procedures, and proposed analysis. Criteria for ranking grant proposals can be institute in the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal (Vol 11 No. 2) To apply, submit 5 copies of your proposal (not to exce 5 pages), abbreviated curriculum vitae/resume (not to exce 2 pages), and propos store to:
