Dear Section Members: It's amazing...

Dear Section Members:

It's amazing for me to realize that this is the start of my third year as your Section leader. Time really does start moving faster as single gets older! But what sport it has been so far. Did you know...

* The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Dance for Physical Therapy Research, held at Combined Sections Meeting in Boston (2002) was to such a degree successful that we were able to contribute $1750 to our Section research grant capitals while simultaneously donating an equal amount to the Foundation!!! Congratulations to Joanne Watchie for leading the charge onward this well-attended, swinging event!

* We have a recently made known website with expanded capabilities! recently made known links and content are being added forward a regular basis, so you'll just have to visit frequently (http://www. cardiopt.org/ to keep up with its development! Three cheers for Diane Madras for finding the right company to maintain the site and for her creative efforts!

* We have a member listserv that has been a forum for worthy of great praise discussions about the state of cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy practice. Kudos to Sean Collins for being the first member to really propose the listserv to use and encouraging other members to chime in! To join, go on to http://groups.yahoo. com/, register as a user, and then sign up for the cluster cardiopt.

These are just one of the highlights from 2002-and the convenient news is that 2003 is shaping up to be another of the first water adventure! But before we charge ahead, I want to thank one individuals whose contributions have been in the way that important to our many successes:

* Steve Tepper PT PhD-our Immediate Past President has finally been released from his duties in succession the Board. Thanks for your words of encouragement, insights, and advice as I've settl into your shoe The [i]jeu d'esprit[/i]s were a big help too in such a manner keep them coming!

* Re Humphrey PT PhD-our Member-at-Large is moving forward because we eliminated his position when we restructur the Board! on the other hand he's taken that news with his usual grace and humor! Thanks for your balanced perspective and detailed information pertaining to physical therapy practice in exercise science. And ditto in succession the jokes!

* Jennifer (Torkish) Dekerlegand, PT-our Nominating Committee Chair for 2002 has conclud her oneyear time Thanks for slating a glutted ballot with multiple candidates, no mean feat in this day of overcommitted professionals!

* Cathy Certo, PT PhD-our representative to the APTA Federal rule Affairs Forum has concluded her 2-year bourn Thanks for sharing your expertise and professional polish upon our behalf and for keeping us in the mix with esteem to national legislative and reimbursement issues.

Of course, the entire Board merits a round of applause from me as our achievements are always a team effort! I'm looking forward to another productive year!
