Purpose/Hypothesis: The drift of this study was to evaluate the test-retest reliability, internal consistency, and joint and equal validity of the HSSI in patients following coronary artery bypass (CAB). The HSSI is a 76-item symptom inventory that uses a 5-point ordinal scale to assess disease-specific functional status. Number of Subjects: This subject of attention included 27 patients attending outpatient cardiac rehabilitation who had undergone CAB within the past 6 month Materials/Methods: Patients complet self-report instruments including a patient history form, HSSI, and SF-36 Health inspect Patients also completed a other HSSI at a later time forward the same testing day. HSSI scores were summ to create a total score and 4 subcategory scores (general, cardiac, body lower extremity). Pearson correlations were calculated to evaluate test-retest reliability of the HSSI. Pearson correlations between individual item, subcategory, and total scores were calculated from the first trial of the HSSI to evaluate internal consistency. Pearson correlations for HSSI scores and SF-36 scores were calculated to evaluate coincident validity. Significance was set at p T Kinney LaPier.
