Purpose/Hypothesis: Tn determine whether an 8 week pulmonary rehabilitation program would be as effective as a felicitous 12 week program already in place. Number of Subjects: A prospective sample of convenience of 31 participants in our pulmonary rehabilitation program. Materials/Methods: make subordinates completed outcome measures prior to as well as during the eighth and twelfth weeks of the program. The 6 minute walk trial (6MWT) and a stair climbing proof (ST) measured functional exercise capacity. During these trials dyspnea was measured with the 6-20 Rating of Perceived Dyspnea (RPD) Quality of life was measured with the Pulmonary Function Status Scale (PFSS) and the Hare-Davis Cardiac Depression Scale (CDS) The 6MWT was analyzed using repeated measures analysis of variance followed through paired t-tests. all other data were ordinal or not normal (ST) and were analyzed using the Friedman Two-Way Analysis of Variance according to Ranks test followed by Wilcoxon Signed Ranks proofs Results: Test results are instanted in me following format: criterion name: initial; 8 week; 12 week. 6MWT (m): 3102; 3601*; 3702** 6MWT RPD: 150; 130*; 130** ST (sec): 359; 295; 266 ST RPD: 120; 115*; 110** PFS (activities/social): 364; 371; 374 PFS (psychological): 395; 398; 403 PFS (sexual): 335; 350; 354 CDS: 8890; 8523; 8438 *Value at 8 weeks is significantly different (p K Hasegawa1, M Riley2, B Tepfer1 M Fillyaw3, R Finkel4. 1 Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Brattleboro VT 2 Chesire Medical Center Keene NH 3 Dept of Physical Therapy, University of of the present day England, Biddeford ME, 4 Shady Hill Associates, Wardsboro, VT Copyright Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal Dec 2003 Provided by dint of ProQuest Information and Learning Company.
