Purpose/Hypothesis: Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) may have autonomie nervous combination of parts to form a whole neuropathies with resultant alterations in heart rate variability (HRV) Additionally, right heart failure is commonly a long-term outcome for these patients. Therefore, the hypothesis was that participation in an 8-week outpatient rehabilitation program will increase HRV and right ventricular ejection fraction (RVEF) in patients with COPU was exampleed Number of Subjects: Seven enthralls diagnosed with COPD, consecutively recruited from an outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program. Materials/Methods: make subordinates exercised for 8 weeks, 3 times/week, in a supervised outpatient program, 90 minutes each day, including a 45 minute upper material part exercise/coordinated breathing class and a 45 minute aerobic exercise class. HRV (time and oftenness domain measures) derived from 24-hour ambulatory ECG Holter monitoring and RVEF measured at resting echocardiographic imaging, prior to and following participation in the 8-week outpatient program were measured. Student's paired t-Test was used to compare HRV and RVEF pre and position exercise training.
