Committee Members: Ellen Hillegass-Chair Angela Abeyta-Government Affairs Liaison Robert Huhn Committee Activity for 2003-2004: 1 Angela accepted position 3/03 as Govt Affairs Liaison 2 Angela attended Govt Affairs Meeting at APTA 4/03 3 Ellen took Chair position 7/03 4 Dianne Jewell and Steve Tepper attended a meeting with Gayle to leeward and CMS re: pulmonary rehab national program propos and reimbursement issues 8/03 5 Ellen attended State Legislative Affairs Meeting in Kansas City 9/03 6 Ellen attended APTA reimbursement meeting in Baltimore 11/03 met with APTA about pulmonary rehab reimbursement issues 7 risk up meeting with APTA Govt affairs, Dianne Jewell, and Legislative Committee to discuss plan of action of section for reimbursement issues at CSM 2004 Current Issues/Objectives of Committee: 1 National pulmonary rehab program reimbursement issues 2 Cardiac rehab reimbursement issues 3 Monitoring of reimbursement/legislative affairs for cardiopulmonary issues Goals for Committee: 1 Act as the information center with up-to-date knowledge of reimbursement, conduct and state affairs issues. 2 Act as information center with up to date knowledge of professional infringement issues (ie, ex phy etc) 3 Attend all national meetings of management affairs, state legislative affairs, and reimbursement. 4 Act as direct link to APTA of all cardiopulmonary related reimbursement and legislative issues. 5 Act as resource to membership for questions, resources, etc 6 Increase the knowledge and awareness of section members of rife issues impacting our specialty. 7 Act as liaison with collections that work towards similar legislative and reimbursement issues. 8 excite the action of section members when lacked for reimbursement or legislative issues. Specific Goals for 2004-2005: 1 Begin Reimbursement Corner in the Journal to increase the knowledge and awareness of section members of popular issues impacting our specialty. Act as a question/answer corner, as well. 2 Identify a plan of action for pulmonary rehab national program reimbursement issue. 3 Identify a plan of action for the cardiac rehab reimbursement issues. 4 adapted with APIA Government Affairs Office at Combined sections meeting to discuss Cardiovascular and Pulmonary section's goals for reimbursement/legislative issues and where to travel from here...
