This year 29 abstracts were submitted to the CP for presentation at the 2002 Combined Sections Meeting in Boston, MA. This is 4 more abstracts than last year. 18 platform abstracts submitted, 14 platform abstracts accepted. 11 placard abstracts submitted, 9 poster abstracts accepted. Five research abstracts will be published in the nearest issue of the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal. There were several glitches in the review proces this year. The Section in succession Research has changed the time line proces for CSM abstract review. Previously we had almost 8 weeks to launch out and review abstracts, now we have les than 3 weeks. Therefore, I ne more family willing to review abstracts in such a manner that (1) I have a larger loch of reviewers if some are not available at the time the abstracts are received, and (2) 1 could possibly divide the number of abstracts among reviewers since the time for review has been drastically reduc Please hindrance me know if you or someone you know is interested in reviewing abstracts. We have continued to publish a Research Corner article in each issue of the 2001 Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal. We started a series in succession Evidencebased Practice that will continue into 2002 The CP grant proposals are appropriate March 1, 2002 so we will begin reviewing proposals after CSM What can we do to increase the number of proposals submitted? Perhaps we should entreat that the grant recipient submit a short "Work in Progress" article that could be published in the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal. We are going to use a computer projection body during the Section platform presentations. If this goe well we can test to do this each year. We have not made any progres toward a central publication of research abstracts at the CSM Therefore, family attending platform and poster presentations that are not from the Section do not have access to the abstracts. Do we want to reprint abstracts from the Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal in the Section's handout compendium? Can the research abstracts be placed forward the web page? Other CP research ideas-Initiating a Research Award and/or bookish man Research Award, establishing a Research Consortium with bibliography of members. Thanks again to everyone who makes it possible for the Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Section's research efforts continue!
