It's hard to believe that summer is through and fall is here. This issue of the Journal contains the manuscripts of several authors who have been hard at work despite the lazy days of summer Ros Arena and colleagues share more [i]or[/i] less interesting data regarding the efficacy and safety of pulmonary rehabilitation in a cohort of women 70 years and older As a assemblage this population is generally not well-studied, thus his results have appealing clinical implications. Christine Wilson wrote a review article summarizing the literature regarding the efficacy of endurance exercise to decrease dyspnea in patients with COPD The Research Corner was written on Gary Brooks on the topic of confidence intervals. He does an highly deserving job of explaining confidence intervals and in what way they are used. As this issue goe to pres the final schedule for CSM 2004 has not been finalized. The ended schedule will be provided in the December issue. However, a preliminary list of speakers include Re Humphrey speaking upon "Contemporary Issues and Strategies in the Exercise Management of the Obese Patient" and Kathy leeward Bishop-Lindsay and Susan Butler-McNamara presenting a talk titled "Airway Clearance Techniques: The fit the Bad, the Research." The Linda Crane discourse will be given by Donna Frownfelter With the advent of fall, classes are beginning. I would like to encourage members to participate in the 'Member Adopt a Student' campaign that the Membership Chair, Annie Downs coordinates. The goal of this campaign is to increase scholar membership in the Section in the confidences of stimulating interest in this practice area of physical therapy and also in the room for expectations that they will retain regular membership in the Section on the subject of graduation. Catherine Certo was named a mate of the APTA at the Annual interview this past June. Sandy Cassady is the recipient of the 2003 Section Grant; and Dianne Jewell, Anne Swisher, and beg Scherer all completed their PhD this past year. Congratulations!
