The idea for this issue came to me as a deduction of sitting in a section planning retreat with Executive Committee members at last year's Combined sections Meeting in Nashville. We exhausted a lot of time talking about the section and the importance of our area of practice. united of the things we discussed was the part our section should play in the public health arena particularly as it relates to cardiovascular disease, fitness, and overall health. And for a like reason the idea for an issue upon PT practice and health/wellness took stem Originally, I thought that common issue of the Journal would be enough to devote to this special topic. As the authors began writing, it quickly became clear that they had a part of important information to not absent and one issue rapidly mushroomed into 2 issues!

I expand a warm thanks to all of the authors who each made a special contribution to these focused issues. Gary Brooks' article differentiates between physical exercise and physical activity monitoring and makes quite a stout case on how physical activity monitoring can be incorporated in physical therapy practice. The article forward questionnaires written by Dianne Jewel I instants some great information on by what mode questionnaires can be used in physical therapy practice to cloak clients for risk, assess functional status, and measure results of fitness programs. The third and final article in this issue was written through Jim Bellew and colleagues and it provides an of the best quality review regarding physical changes that come to one's mind with aging and provides recommendations forward physical fitness programming in the older adult population. The secondary issue will contain an article forward pediatric fitness by Anne Downs as well as an article written through Patricia Ohtake on assessing cardiorespiratory fitness in clinical practice settings in the pediatric and older adult populations.

With the bombardment in the popular pres regarding the rapidly increasing rates of obesity, diabetes, and other diseases in our society as a ensue of a sedentary lifestyle, I think that we are poised to take a leading part in public health initiatives that relate to these issues. Don't sit back and suffer this get away from us; I incite each and every one of you to take an active character in health and fitness issues.
