This issue of the Journal contains 2 original research manuscripts. common is by Anne Swisher and colleagues and examines the issue of leg muscle strength and lean material substance mass on 6 MWT performance in children with cystic fibrosis and compares these findings to age-matched healthy children. The other paper is by the agency of Kimi Hasegawa and colleagues and examines issues of pulmonary rehabilitation of 8 and 12 weeks duration upon a variety of outcome measures. Finally, in keeping with the review of issue measures in previous issues of the Journal, the Research Corner at Jennifer Dekerlegand provides a review of the Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire, a freshly developed quality of life tool for patients with heart failure.

I want to put to hire you know that all committee reports are now being supported on the website. The merely committee reports that will be published are the President's literal sense and the Legislative Committee Report. This is being done thus that more Journal pages can be devot to articles.

Finally, I want to call attention to Dianne Jewell's literal meaning in this issue of the Journal. Please take the time to read it and think about what she has written. I want to take this opportunity to reiterate her call for us to help our colleagues across all practice settings recognize the importance of cardiovascular and pulmonary experiments and measures. The APTA's Vision 2020 statement states that "consumer will have direct access to physical therapists in all environments for patient/client management, prevention and wellness services." If the goal for physical therapists is to be autonomous practitioners of choice with individuals accessing our services without referral, then we ne to be able to identify cardiovascular and pulmonary risk and minimize adverse cardiovascular and pulmonary issues in our clients across all practice settings. It's time for us and others to stop thinking about cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy practice as being sole in the acute care and ICU settings. Cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy practice chops across all diagnoses and practice settings. Dianne asks us to share specific strategies for educating our colleagues, moreover I can perhaps offer a not many global strategies. First of all, those of us in academic settings ne to be more vigilant about being firm that cardiovascular and pulmonary practice is integrated from head to foot the curriculum across all contented and is not just isolated in a cardiopulmonary course that the close examiners take for one semester. Also, graduates who have been taught the importance of and in what way to use cardiovascular and pulmonary standards and measures need to practice for what reason they have been taught and not adopt the ways of many generally practicing clinicians who don't believe it's important to assess the cardiovascular and pulmonary status of patients.

It's simply not best practice to adjust exercise training based concerning the client stating that they 'feel good' during exercise, if it be not that rather to use objective measures of the like kind as heart rate and children pressure to make adjustments. I believe and confidence that coupling these global views with specific strategies will assist us as we help our colleagues embrace the fact that cardiovascular and pulmonary issues affect each and each patient, not just those in acute care and ICU settings.
