The League of Defense of the nation (LOK)26 remains one of the largest Polish organizations with more than 130000 members and 3000 regular employee Although initially affected by way of cuts in government financing, it largely followed in maintaining its organizational infrastructure and still exhibits popular services like driving courses (186 centres) diving (77 clubs) or yachting (63 clubs) not to mention basic military training (about 600 centres) Although these activities are exhibited at their real cost, LOK remains an important player in the market because it has experienced instructors at its disposal and because the League itself is generally considered to be a serious provider of services. Last yet not least, in 2003 about 100000 children participated in sports companys animated by LOK and 280000 took part in various activities organized during summer and winter holidays. In 2003 the Polish Tourist and home Lovers Society (PTTK)27 numbered about 80000 members, thus remaining the largest tourist association in Poland, with more than 25000 presents and 10,000 guides involved in the Society's activities each year. Finally, in 2003 PTTK confessed about 200 hostels and more than 200 restaurants.
